Started working out again last week. Between the holidays and my old hernia spot flaring up, I took a few months off. I really, really started to feel like a lethargic piece of shit, so it felt great to get back into the swing of things. I've learned that I can't go too heavy on the weight. When I try to push myself with higher weight, it makes my old hernia spot pretty uncomfortable. The reality of it is that I'll just have to do lighter weight with more reps. I much prefer lifting to cardio type stuff, so I'll just try to keep a fast pace going to keep the heart rate up.
As for my diet...I'm trying to eat less processed garbage. Mainly sticking to meat (lean beef, turkey, chicken. Not a big fan of seafood, but there are some fish that I like. I hate fish that have a fishy taste like Salmon.), and fruits/veggies. I've cut out a lot of carbs, but I still eat a few. Rice is a staple for me. I can't cut out rice...it's not happening. I eat it with meat and veggies all the time. I also eat potatoes and sweet potatoes quite a bit. Every now and then I'll have bread or pasta, but it's far less than I used to.
I wish I liked more vegetables. I mainly stick to broccoli, onion, and peppers (bell and jalapeno). I don't like asparagus, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes (unless diced or crushed), etc.
The place I've cut down the most on is drinking calories. I stick to water or zero calorie stuff.
