I recommend Shadow Dragon for DS as well. Not the best of the series but still very good if you enjoy FE games.

When my brother and his wifey move back and bring their GameCube with them I'm gonna look into path of radiance as welL and steal their GC.

Great system. Best Nintendo system ever imo. Dreamcast is still my all time fav.

Being a Vita owner is certainly a requirement if you want to be a member of the Cool Kidz Club.

It's a niche system though. Because of the fact that the Vita did not succeed in North America, Sony dropped AAA support for it. But the Vita is very popular and successful in Japan. So, naturally, most of the new games coming in for the Vita are Japanese games (the Vita is actually getting an Attack on Titan game this year, which I'm hyped about). But the Vita does still get a good amount of indies from smaller North American developers too. Games like Bastion, Volume, Titan Souls, and Axiom Verge are some pretty acclaimed indie games that the Vita has.

I would say that, if you're looking for new games, the Vita probably isn't the best investment if you don't like Japanese games. Because like I said, JRPGs (and to a lesser extent, Visual Novels) are a decently sized portion of what new games the Vita still gets. Still get a lot of 2D platformers as well, if you like that genre. But if you're interested in retro games as well, there are a -ton- (and I do mean a ton) of PS1 games on the Vita PSN store. Also a good portion of PS2 titles as well if my memory serves correct. So there is that. 

The Vita is an amazing system for me because of these things. I really like Japanese games, and the Vita is also my gateway to retro games that I didn't have any way to previously play. The great indie titles are just a bonus, but a very welcomed one. 

You mentioned remote play - literally every single PS4 game is remote play compatible. It's a requirement that every game is.
