I laughed when they said you can learn the basics of coding. What they shown was definitely not coding. Though I can see it being usefulness in architect design, creating ideas for that field in a way. Or simply a vehicle of any sort of creativity for kids. As for the coding, what they should finish having these kids try to code Minecraft mods, which is pretty popular. Hell they might even make money out of it.
Personal experience, it's fun to go back to every once in a while with friends. Can't do it by myself though as I'd just get bored and it takes too long to actually make anything of substance. Mostly just to goof around. I applaud anyone's patience that has actually made huge projects in it, even in the creative mode where you don't have to farm the game world for resources.
That being said I don't know how people watch people on YouTube play Minecraft. But yet it's huge on YouTube. Probably one of the biggest "let's play" games.
