Not with regards to religion. I’m just looking for answers.
I suggest you go into the wilderness, sit and be quiet and listen to the sounds of the river. Watch the clouds and shut down your mind. Listen.
I think we have had this conversation before and all you heard was nothing. hahaha.
Maybe eat some mushrooms, that might help you connect with a different reality than the reality that you insist is all there is. That may "Prove" it to you.
If I eat mushrooms then see some supernatural shit, I’m more than likely just gonna blame the hallucinogenic drugs I consumed, rather than a god. Proof, in the religious sense, is a relative term and means something very different to each of us. I’ve spent lots of time in the wilderness... the all-powerful one has not made any effort to bring me to his side yet.

And maybe talk shit about Jesus to himself.
Shit man, you need to talk with your priest and get your shit in order. If you can’t even witness a civil discussion without losing your shit, you weren’t kidding when you said you were conflicted about your faith.

Go ahead and ban me or ask me to quit. This place sucks anymore. You're all buttfucking stupid.
Careful. Fleet let you come back if you toned it down. You have done a good job with it so far. Spamming and lashing out isn’t going to work. I love you man, just chill out.

I never saw supernatural shit. But I did connect with nature and the heavens (clouds, sky,and stars) more. Expanding your mind is not always a hallucinogenic fallacy. They now are finding out LSD can help lots of stuff. I'm not saying you should do it, I'm just saying you may be missing something that you don't understand.

It's cool. Just spoke with Binger. Saska will be duly ignored.

Just as a disclaimer, Binger and I aren’t going to boot anybody unless they do some extremely egregious shit. This is a small online community and everybody’s voice is important. Disagreements create discussion. How productive those discussions are is up for debate, lol

Thats just getting high in the woods
Yes. It would be. Maybe better than going to school and learning how to pay off my loan. haha.
All I'm saying is some of you are not open to anything other that proof. Ya know scientist thought the world was flat at one time. They also think to this day that God does not exist. Spirituality is where I come from. Not religion. Oh and scientists change their mind almost every day. What proof is that?

Scientists do change their opinions all the time. Its called science. Science disproves or strengthens a theory.

The changing of minds in science is proof of it's devotion to proof. When new data comes along that shows something that had been previously missed, and that data can be repeated and verified, then minds are changed. That's a sign of progress. When you refuse to change your mind in the face of overwhelming evidence, that's the opposite of progress, and it's what happens in most religions on a regular basis. Evolution is probably the best example of that... Science is always learning new things about the process. Most religions still believe in the same creation story that they had from thousands of years ago, even though we now know that most of those stories could not have happened the way it was claimed.

Yeah I agree, also it’s such a misleading statement to indicate in any way that it was ever established science at any point in time that the world was flat. It was common knowledge, yes (perpetuated in part by documents such as the Bible). But never science. I had a post about this a couple years ago when I cared more to go back and forth on a message board:
So, why is it offensive to call atheism a religion?
It's not offensive to label atheism as a religion, I would more classify that as intellectually dishonest at best. Moronic and mind-numbingly stupid at most accurate.
Maybe the brilliance of the word of God is that its relevant regardless of the science of the time?
No, "science" has never dictated the world as being flat, as the Bible does. It is not brilliant for the Bible to suggest it either, it is ignorant of reality both then and now.
Now, that is not to say that elements of the scientific process was never used until then. Ancient Greeks used aspects of the scientific process (observation, measurement, experimentation) to make deductions about the spherical nature of the Earth, and Eratosthenes even attempted to calculate the circumference. Pretty cool stuff, and I urge you and anyone else to check out this video:
Science -- through the scientific method -- is the most powerful tool known to humankind for advancing knowledge about this Universe. Established science -- through the scientific method -- makes useful predictions that are extremely reliable and accurate. Look to the recent solar eclipse. Our technology that allows us to communicate is directly responsible through true understanding of natural phenomena.
The Bible has never and will never have this type of power to explain this world, let alone this Universe. If anything it took a long while to break from the shackles of religion that is content in ignorance, because of the very thing that you find it "beautiful" for -- it is an archaic document that is representative of the archaic explanations of its time of invention.
Through the use of the scientific method, Galileo made discoveries which suggested a heliocentric (surprise! "God" did not put us in the center of everything! *sadface*) view of our solar system -- and was subsequently labelled a heretic, and sentenced to indefinite imprisonment. Why the reluctance of the Church to accept this discovery? Well, for one, there are literal passages in the Bible which are at odds with that:
Psalm 19:6: It [the sun] rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat. Psalm 93:1: The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is established, that it cannot be moved. Psalm 104:5: (Bless the LORD…) Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Ecclesiastes 1:5: The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
And no, as much as you want to dismiss these phrases as "parables" I see no beauty or lessons to be learned from repeated wrong explanations of natural phenomena. Not to mention, the rampant misogyny and backwards culture customs that the Bible is plagued by. Nothing beautiful about that, in the least.
How many people need to teach San Diego how science works.
'Can' is better question, because your stupid, confused ass can't even comprehend a few posts in a row. Lol. Stick to the 'wasn't serious', 'don't give a fuck', 'just trolling' defense.

Thinking the world was flat was not based on the scientific method, and it wasn't allowed to be peer reviewed. You were kilt if you claimed the world was different than the dogma stated it was.
Some think that God does not exist, but they don't claim to know everything, far from it.
When it comes to shrooms/LSD/etc. - I think those things are great (I haven't done it all) to show that there are untapped potential in your mind and that your view of reality isn't really what it is as it can be altered so easily/heavily.
Some of the times I have done shrooms have been extremely profound - like really feeling connected to the world/plants/other animals.
This doesn't mean "God" and being an atheist (or simply not accepting anything that any religion is selling based on ideas that ignorant people came up with 2,000 years ago) doesn't mean you claim to know how everything works.

Bc I went back to my post history and copied and pasted the specific post that was relevant to the conversation?

What is intellectually dishonest and mind-numbingly stupid is this response. You're original point was that it was equally offensive to label atheism a religion as it was to label Christianity mythology. Now you respond like a troll to try to sound clever. Par for the course, you're not clever.

You do realize, in your ridiculous way of quoting, you said this when quoting something completely unrelated? Anyhow, you go on to argue that the scientific process was never used to prove the earth was flat. Which is not nearly the same as saying that scientists believed the earth to be flat. Would it make you feel better if I said geocentric instead of flat?
In regards to your treatise on science, what exactly are you replying to? You basically ignored all the questions posed and copy/pasted some pro science argument that nobody disputes. What I actually said was, "I find no contradiction in supporting science to the fullest extent." Why are you spending so much time defending science? Again, in regards to Galileo, do you think the entire issue was simply scientific conservatism? It wasn't. You ignored the statement in regards to the Catholic Church throughout history has done much more to further science than suppress science. As far as your biblical quotes are concerned, the Bible does not make the case for geocentrism. You didn't even pick the most obvious text, Joshua 10, to make your case. Its not an original thought, this has been debated. Do you also go apeshit when someone says "What a beautiful sunrise" and lecture them for an hour on the beauty of science?

You never did answer how you respond to the word 'sunrise' or God forbid, 'sunset'.
Thanks for the link.
I use the word sunrise and sunset the same way I use the words “french fries” even though they aren’t from France, “guinea pigs” even though they aren’t pigs nor are they from Guinea, and other misnomers that exist in colloquial English language.
