If you value having good battery life, I don’t recommend a gaming laptop.
How much gaming we talking? You can get something like an XPS and run games on medium (depending on the game) and have a computer with good battery life. If you’re trying to do more hardcore gaming you’ll want a dedicated graphics card but then you’ll typically end up with a less portable machine with crappy battery life.
Would probably play games while plugged so battery life wouldn't be an issue
I figured as much, but the more powerful gaming laptops will have reduced battery life even when not gaming.
Just depends on your use really. I brought battery life up with the assumption that you may be in class/clinicals all day.
