I grew up on the Gulf Coast near Galveston. We got hit many times. Other than interruptions from utilities and flooding, things were back to normal rather quickly.
I was out with friends last night. One owns a second home in Fort Lauderdale, about 4 miles from the coast. She called a neighbor to check out how things were going with the storm. She said nothing much. Some wind and little rain. Someone pulled out a phone and opened the weather app. It showed the hurricane directly hitting the place.
Not me, my phone. Hangs up on everyone. Actually thought it was cuz of the metal hurricane shutters this time. But the battery was down to 0, and it just shut down. It wouldn't even reboot at 4%, which took awhile. Then I went to sleep. But it's good to go now, you up yet?
