infantry, vehicles, gun play, player count, and good map design
What is fun about battlefield?
Being able to shoot, run around like crazy, and win the game with the friends in your squad however you want to play
at 64 players things are already either a cluster fuck or spread too thin. There are too many objectives and too many players that most of the game has already broken down. Air vehicles are out numbered by stingers and other ground to air defenses 20 to 1 so they are no longer a factor to the point of frustration. Choke points that are meant for fewer amounts of players turn into a meat grinder with endless grenades and no hope of pushing through. Tanks are either rendered useless by having too few to just die by a million rockets or there are too many so everyone gets one which ruins the balance between infantry and vehicles further. So vehicles are already just frustration or the only way to not get killed is to join them.
A squad of 4 talented and coordinated players is too small to turn the tide in most cases, you do not have an impact on if your team can win which is not fun. Now think of all ive said and lets bump up the map size and the player count to 128. Going from a minor impact to your team to no impact here, that will just lead to frustration. It seems they just want pure chaos where you get killed from things you cannot avoid, again not fun. Did anyone like the huge blimp killing you in BF1? Yea thought not.
Does DICE know how to make a fun game anymore? Was BF3 a fluke? 32-36 player rush and conquest flourished beyond belief in those games and there wasnt anything else like it. Is it just marketing pushing larger numbers trying to get sales? What im hearing so far is just doubling down on this same decisions that made BF1 and BF5 massive disappointments. BF5 was also a massive financial failure. Not looking good but hopefully there is some optionality and player run servers. But then again conquest small is likely to be 64 players which is still too much unless you have the most perfect map ever which they still have not made. Rush is no where to be found but they neutered that already in BF1
BFV at least in it's current state is perfectly fine. The only thing I hate is the dumbass spotting system, and there's no real reason to progress past a certain point once you get the guns you want since there's no attachment unlock.

As long as it’s a modern setting or set in the near future, it’s already the best battlefield game since BF4. Games set in the world war era are fuckin trash. Vietnam era shooters aren’t much better.

bf1942 is still arguably the best and most balanced one with the most options and most mods and custom servers
lol @ DICE going backwards with every installment
imagine removing naval combat completely when it was some of the most fun shit in those games. Taking landing crafts to other battleships was GOAT

BF1 is the one that sucks massive ass.
bfv is not fine in its current state
they abandoned the live service model because it flopped horribly. No new content, low ammo, limited health regen, endless animations that you dont need, etc. It is essentially an unfinished game. People parrot this group think that this makes you plan and play differently. No, its just boring to run to an ammo or health crate after every encounter and slows shit down to a crawl. You already have to wait if you are sitting on an ammo or health kit, why make it worse? Superfluous animations are not needed unless it is to prevent you from doing something else, getting in and out of vehicles and reviving someone should be as it always has been since bf2. It falls under nice to have in theory but not necessary when so many other necessary things are not even included.
Is rush even in bf5? What about conquest with 32 players? Mod support? Proper chain of command? Custom servers? A functional server browser? Vehicle/infantry balance? Good maps that fit multiple game modes? Classic maps brought back from BF1942? It goes on and on.
BF1 and BF5 are probably the worst of the battlefield games and i would anticipate more of the same going forward.

Lmao what? How TF you running out of ammo? That's not even an issue. I'd say there isn't enough AT rockets to go around, that's about it. You also start with a free health pack, and medic hand that shit out like candy.
Sure the live service is dead, but I only started playing it recently so I don't really care lol.
Server browser is there, rush or something similar is there. No idea if 34 players is there because I don't play it and it's probably filtered out. Vehicle balance is nearly perfect with exception to a few areas in a few maps.

im able to survive for longer than the two mags they give you
maybe they changed it but thats how it used to be to try to force team work which never works
bfv was a lot of bad ideas combined that were just inconvenient and not fun

Graphics are incredible though, lol.
yea that falls into the nice to have instead of need to have category
would love if all the offshoots of old dice would make a shooter, feel like theres nothing out there right now
theres something weird with the frostbite engine though where visability is a problem for seeing enemy players which is probably why they introduced 3d spotting in battlefield 3 and 4. Something i did not have a problem with and actually like, also something they removed in bf1 and i believe bf5

I can’t see players at all in Battlefield V, plus I’m impatient. Get absolutely destroyed lol.

Not having the 3d spotting is ass, but not showing up on the radar for shooting a non-silenced gun is the worst. Visually BFV it's a bit easier to see enemies since most of the maps a bright. BF1 is way too dark.

Totally the opposite for me, though I played BF1 on PS4, and BF5 on PC.

Idk it's weird the graphics almost look better in BF1. But it's so dark and gray it's hard to see anything lmao.
Honestly I think the increased player count can work out well as long as there's enough transportation and enough detail and cover in maps instead of open fields, especially if the objectives are spread out. There's not enough engagement in between objectives
