Dwayne Haskins implies that Washington and Coach Rivera didn't give him detailed scouting reports on the Defense while he was with the team. Pretty damning statement if true and supports my theory that Rivera never intended to give Haskins a fair shot to succeed in Washington.

Speaking to the media leading up to the Steelers preseason game against Carolina, Dwayne Haskins said that this is the first time he has been given detailed scouting reports on the opposing team's Defense.

"I think the biggest thing with preparing me is...I think Coach Tomlin does a great job as far as giving you a scouting report of who you are playing that week. I've never really had that before. As far as being able to know who was the senior analyst coach, who was the defensive coordinator, who was the DB coach, what did he like to do, what techniques do the CBs play. And we'd get that all before we even come into practice that week. So that's pretty cool to be able to have a jumpstart as far as what you're looking at and what you're seeing. So I feel like that definitely prepares me to go out and play against Carolina."

Rivera didn't draft Haskins. He got the job a year after Haskins was picked by them. It was easy for Rivera to give up on Haskins because he didn't have anything hanging on if Haskins panned out or not.

It isn't the first time a new Head Coach wants to put their own plan in place for a QB regardless of the previous regiment's investment in the position (i.e. Kingsbury going with Murray over Rosen).

Dwane Haskins is a reason a Steelers fan might be hopeful for the team’s season? God help the Steelers. The situation is worse than I thought…,

No question. Haskins is about as thin a branch you could possibly reach for though

Dwayne Haskins. Everyone wanted to see Haskins play against a first-team defense, but he didn’t seize his opportunity to impress. After strong showings in the first three preseason games, Haskins was thoroughly unimpressive in his first start with the Steelers. He was 9 for 16 for 108 yards with one touchdown and one interceptions, but almost all of those yards and the touchdown came in mop-up duty after he had to reenter the game after Josh Dobbs was injured. The backup quarterback competition was fun while it lasted.

Actually I would pick Haskins over Cam if I had to hold my nose and make that choice. I can’t imagine either team’s fanbase looking at either player as a reason to be happy going into this season

McDaniels would be HC but if something would happen to BB this year it would probably be a battle royal with Mayo coming out on top

Steelers cut RB Tony Brooks-James, WR Matthew Sexton, WR Anthony Johnson, OG Malcolm Pridgeon, TE Marcus Baugh, DT T.J. Carter, CB Lafayette Pitts, CB Shakur Brown, and S Lamont Wade.

They have to cut 18 more players to get down to the 53 man roster by 4pm Tuesday.
