Too much panic incited by the View in defense of pedophilia.
Local gov't will simply raise taxes on Disney specific businesses to cover costs. Gov'ts raising targeted taxes isn't (and I'm not making this up) new. That is what Disney has long opposed, paying "its fair share".
Disney can then choose to suck up the cost or pass it along to its customers.
The state has no obligation to subsidize Disney if they believe it is a poor value for residents.
Who are the tax payers that you're talking about, and what is their logic?
Assuming Disney doesnt up and move, the long term benefit favors the taxbase.
How so? Which taxes are they not paying that they should or would be - you mean like property taxes?
DeSantis is not doing this for tax reasons. He didn't run on this; it only happened after Disney spoke out against the bill they just passed.
DeSantis keeps trying to change legislation that we voters in Florida voted for on amendments on ballots. He's doing it now with redistricting the maps of Florida so that republicans will have even more seats. Right now it's like 12 to 4 republicans to democrat district seats. It will go 12-2 after redrawing... based on his decision. Florida is not 75% republican (so it's already skewed) and it's not 85% republican either.

This country and state is fucked up.
Yes, property taxes.
I don't know the ins and outs of the deal that was put in place in the 60's to say if there is additional opportunities for incoming tax revenue.
And you're right, this country and the states in it are fucked up....don't even get me started on what Evers is doing is Wisconsin.

ya i am trying to not comment too much in the declarative of how this will benefit or not benefit tax payers - since I don't know how the deal worked.
I think it's just fucked up that these things are dangled whenever someone comes out against legislation. Now if Disney had some policy that was like "we don't allow chrsitians" or donates to a group that tries to stop christians from having rights, I'd understand retaliation.
TIL that Disney is the leader of the shape shifting lizard people, pedophile cabal and is leading this country into a satanic cult who feeds on the flesh of the unworthy

And the 7 Dwarfs totally gangbanged Snow White.
The TIL is that now, Republicans are perfectly fine with government retaliation against organizations speaking g out against legislation.
People often ask why I keep saying the Republican party is no longer conservative. Well, add this to the long list of examples that prove my point.
Because they had the audacity to oppose the next messiah, DeSantis.
For people that claim to be for small government, they sure do like to fight for more governmental power.
The strategy of just accusing opponents of being pedophiles was floating around in alt-right circles several years ago. I'm not surprised by many Republicans playing footsie with the alt-right for votes, but Republicans using that strategy makes me wonder just how connected some "mainstream" Republicans are to the alt-right.
It is straight from Qtard canon that Disney is a secret pedo base. Repubs are going full on with calling anyone that disagrees with them pedo. Trumpism has taken over the GQP. RIP.
Do you trust the Florida GOP and Desantis? So, at best you have two sides of a politically motivated action without understanding 100% of the potential tax implications of a hastily undertaken political tantrum. So, don’t ya think this should be evaluated a bit longer?
No, I don't trust either of them as it relates to this... What I absolutely do not believe is that Reedy Creek operates at that kind of a financial loss every year...that might be what they report, but that's not reality.
But, imo, logic favors the taxpayers in this situation. It's reasonable to assume Disney is using this, more or less, as a tax shelter....it's similar to local TIF districts.
So you don’t trust either, yet you’re okay with this hastily voted on action without the potential tax implications on many residents? Interesting.
Ask yourself this... Why would Disney want to hold onto this so bad if they're losing $5-10 million annually?
i heard explanations that it is more streamlined and able to build what they want when they want, manage their own police/security for the huge amount of people that come in and out.

I read that too...that's worth $10 million a year?
snerb Where are we going, and why am I in a hand basket?

Ask yourself this. Why does DeSantis suddenly care about Disney’s special status after his political spat with them?
Also a valid question.
My guess would be that it's being used a tax shelter for one of some of Disney's companies, and he wants Florida's government to be able to get at some of that money... is it personal, I don't know.

You seem to be under the impression that you agreed with 610 about operating at a loss, purposefully.

Why wouldn't your first guess it is because of exactly their recent spat?
