So why was it something that he never pursued until literally right after the dont say gay bill spat?
I already acknowledged that it hard to conclude otherwise given the timing.
DeSantis fundraising email:
In an email entitled “They chose the wrong guy,” Gov. Ron DeSantis delivers tough talk against “woke corporations” trying to “strong-arm our state.”
“Yesterday, I announced that I am calling on the state Legislature to eliminate Disney’s sweetheart deal — negotiated and preserved for decades by the powerful. This deal allows Disney to govern itself on the grounds of Walt Disney World — a benefit not afforded to you or me,” DeSantis contended.
The Governor said Tuesday that the Legislature would take a look in this week’s Special Session at repealing special districts implemented before 1968, including the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which is the foundation for the Walt Disney Company’s quasi-governmental structure. This became an issue after Disney expressed opposition to the state’s new Parental Rights in Education law.
The Wednesday fundraising email, as intended, served to heat up the showdown rhetoric.
“As Governor, I was elected to put the people of Florida first, and I will not allow a woke corporation based in California to run our state,” the pugnacious DeSantis added. “Disney has gotten away with special deals from the state of Florida for way too long. It took a look under the hood to see what Disney has become to truly understand their inappropriate influence.”
“Disney thought they ruled Florida,” the pitch continues. “They even tried to attack me to advance their woke agenda. Now, parents see Disney for what it is. And now is the time to put the power back in the hands of Floridians and out of the pockets of woke executives.”
It’s not hard to conclude otherwise. As Bucky mentioned, it’s THE reason. He didn’t pursue this at anytime before the don’t say gay bill. So regardless of what you think about the bill or Disney’s ability to govern itself, you think governing the state based on political retribution is wise? BTW, Disney isn’t the only place in Florida with a special district. There are hundreds. So if you admit this is based on pure retribution without any legitimate concern for what’s best for residents, why would you approve of hastily removing Disney’s own district when there are potential massive tax ramifications on local residents? This below thread of a local reporter is a good breakdown of the tax ramifications:

As long as you desire. It's a pointless effort. Any and all examples will simply be excused so putting the effort is a waste of time. Worse, parents of children want this. If you want your children indoctrinated, (do you have children?) go for it. There is nothing to stop you.
But even in your world of there's "nothing" there, why fight nothing? If someone wants to ban unicorns from shitting in the street, I'm not devoting my life to fighting it. But you be you, I guess.

The three (3) stages of windsprints from reality that is the textbook creed of leftists:
1. No way in hell that's happening, it's a right wing conspiracy 2. OK, it is happening but what's the harm? 3. Shut up and take it or you're RACIST!!!

you lost me at "lobbyists, lawyers and tax officials." Probably the most dishonest people on the planet but OK.

How about you tell me the tax implications. What are they?
"sex" doesn't have to refer to intercourse lol. The problem is getting kids who would never otherwise think about "sex" to start thinking about who they like at around age 5. We shouldn't be encouraging kindergarteners to think about who they "like" whether homosexual or heterosexual. Also it isnt the job of the school to teach that you can choose which gender you identify as. Introducing all these things in schools encourages kids to participate in it. 5-8 yr olds dont know what it means to be gay or trans. They'll just start claiming they are cause they think its the cool thing to do or because it gets them extra attention that they crave.

But heterosexual relationships will be mentioned and encouraged just like they’ve always been.

nobody knows the tax implications right now... Even the leftist mayor of Orange County says they dont have the information necessary to determine the tax implications at this time.

So if we start from the premise that no one knows the tax implications of eliminating Disney’s special district, you believe it’s smart to hastily take this sort of action, which is clearly political retribution, without fully vetting the financial implications on residents? Seems smart.

I think this action should have been taken years ago. The simple idea of a private company having a self governing district is fundamentally wrong imo.

There are literally hundreds of these in Florida. Having said that, you don’t have to like it or even support it. You admit there are potential tax implications because if this and you’re okay with that, personally. Despite the fact this is basically being done because DeSantis is feuding with Disney?

shouldnt be welcomed and encouraged in 5 yr olds.
So do not mention husband and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends. Any het teacher that mentions their spouse, needs to be reported. No wedding rings on anyone. Definitely no pictures of het couples anywhere.

1. Depends on what the tax consequences actually are 2. No. Desantis has been losing me for a while because every decision he makew is too politicky. I think the whole issue of special districts should be looked at but not discussed and passed in 3 hrs to prove a point
