Damn that's good. I only golf a few times a year but trying to go more. Up until like a few years ago I hadn't golfed on a course since I was a kid.
That experience was a shit show lol. We went with another couple that had also never gone together but could semi play, and the whole time we were all nervous because we felt like we didn't belong in the golf world or knew wtf we were doing. When we went to drive our cart off I had not secured our clubs in the back and as I drove off all the clubs just fell out in front of the clubhouse/a bunch of people eating outside lmao. Then on the first hole her friend loses this important family jewelry right at the tee so it took us a bit to find it. Then as we're shanking our balls on the first hole some guy drives up asking about playing through / saying we need to keep a pace lol. I'm like fuck man this is the first hole we just started.
We eventually settled in and had a great time and played at a solid pace. Got some Pars here or there and some nice shots but mostly sucked but not to where it wasn't fun. That was in Everton CO which was cool because we saw lots of wildlife.
I never had a game that good. Have had 5 eagles in my lifetime. Never a hole in one although I did witness my best buddy make one. Did have a 410 yard drive once in front of witnesses including my best friend. Put the fucking ball in the sand and wound up with a boogie.
snerb Where are we going, and why am I in a hand basket?

Just finished a 3 hour and 10 minute round of gold in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. Shot a 43 on front nine and would rather not say I shot a 47 on the back.
But what a great day. Stopped a local sandwich shop and ordered a Jamaican Jerk Chicken rollup with a PBR.
Postcard perfect weather. 77 degrees. Sunshine, No humidity.
41 last night. Should/Could have been another round in the 30's.
That's frustrating. Better luck next time.
Do you play in a league? I played in a Tuesday Night League for a few years. Two man teams. 9 holes. Only won the league once and one Club Championship (B level). We did have a small group of open players that played without handicap in a separate championship.

Yeah, a bunch of us from work staryed a league one night a week. 4 person teams that are split by lowest to highest handicap into an A and B two man team that plays other A and B teams. It's fun, it's a way for me to play more golf too. We won the league in 2017.

Yeah and then there is always the 19th Hole. We had a very nice bar at the country club we played at.
The competition gives it a little spice and you make new friends or get to know old ones better.
Funny story. The year I won the Club Championship I did not take a wood out of the bag in 54 holes. I was known for incredibly long drives and hitting it out of bounds A LOT because our course was set among condos and was exceptionally narrow. I notice they were letting the rough grow up much higher than I had ever seen in the weeks leading up to the competition so I went to the driving range and worked on my 2 & 3 irons a good deal. Really could easily hit it 275 with either of them. But the main thing is I kept it on the fairway and out of the rough.
People were laughing at ne the first day when I was teeing off with irons. By the second day a lot of them were doing the same thing. But it was too late. I had only one penalty stroke and with my handicap I was ahead by 14. Of course some people called that cheating. I just thought it was smart.
