Welp, my golf season has more than likely come to an end. Not a bad year, had some good rounds, some really good rounds and a couple clunkers.
Kept my handicap just under bogey.
Tucking the clubs away for the year.
No... You can't do that.
We'll be playing into November here. And if it doesn't snow, into December in RI
Yeah, it's a little early, I know.
Next Friday I leave for Wyoming for at least 10 days and the last week in October I have to be in Charlotte for a week. By then there isn't enough time after work.

Lol. I bought new clubs towards the end of the 2019 golf season... I've only had the chance to use them 1 time

Bought this the other day. I haven’t had a chance to really use it because I might have tore both ACLs doing pull ups…yes, pull ups.
My middle guy and his friends have been using it every day either at the range or into the net in the back yard and it’s pretty fucking sweet for $500.
snerb Where are we going, and why am I in a hand basket?

If we didn't have our league I wouldn't play much at all. It makes me play at least once a week.
I bought different irons earlier this year too, Mizuno JPX 850's.

Signed myself and my middle guy up for lessons and we started last night.
Dude asked me to swing to see what he’s working with and tells me to hit 7 iron. I tell him that the 7 and 5 wood are my 2 best clubs, do you want me to hit a 4iron instead.
He says no, so I take a couple swings. He then has me hit a ball and it is probably one of the best shots of my life, just cleared the 150 marker dead straight.
He says Ok, and has me start doing these half swing drills where I’m locking out my front knee and he adjusts my hips. So I’m doing this looking like Dak Prescott in his pre-game, faggy warm up.
Then he has me hit this bag and adjusts where my hands are at contact and tells me to keep doing that while he goes to check out my kid.
I’m about to say “fuck this Karate Kid shit, I want to hit balls” and leave and he comes back and tells me to hit a ball to a flag out by the 200 yard mark.
First shot I hit it about 10 yards to the right of the flag with a little draw. My kid goes “Holy poop!”, takes out his range finder and says “184”.
I continue to just pound 170+ yard shots, one after another with my 7. This Mr. Miagi fucker did it!
Lesson 1 over and my kid wants to keep hitting so I get a bucket of balls, and try out my 4 iron…straight but only carrying 150…WTF? 5 iron…150. 6 iron…160. Wtf is going on? 7 iron 170, that’s better. 8 iron skull it about 4 shots in a row. 9 iron…same as 8.
“Oh no! We suck again!”
I’ll be doing my dak dance around the house until I can get back out…probably tonight since they moved my little guy’s baseball to a new indoor facility across the street from a driving range.
I’ll bring the launch monitor and post my before and after videos. It’s going to be pouring rain and dark, but hopefully the lights in the bay will be bright enough for it to work.
I just wish I didn’t wait until October to do this, oh well.

You’ll lose it. Don’t worry

Depending on how I start the year, I may take lessons. The last month or so last year my game really shit the bed...I mean bad, topping balls off he tee, fat, thin...the whole works.

I'm playing in a golf league for the first time in a long time.
Not sure what to think, but it's a chance to get out regularly.
Course is reserved after the league for those wishing to play another 9. That's the best part, I think.

We didn't have our league the summer of COVID, they had to close all the courses. Other than that I've played in our league since 2015.

Starts next Monday... Last week it snowed, this past Monday it was 50, cloudy and rainy so I bailed. Wasn't a big deal, it was a round to really set a handicap for new people to the league so it wasn't a scoring round.

My youngest bro was one year into golf school in florida when he had a reoccurring injury where his muscles would just quit supporting his shoulder blade, put a halt to his golf for a few years
He was really good.
this year he applied to be in the qualifier for the John Deere classic, to get into the qualifier he needs 3 more rounds of even par on 18 holes from the tips to get his handicap to 1 I believe
Shot a 43. Happy about that. Par is 36 on the back nine, so I shot bogey golf. Some good shots, some that were rough. Two holes I shouldn't have been over par...hitting 3 from 60 yards out on a par 5 and I ended up with bogey. And another one I was hitting 2 from 90 out on a par 4, ended up with bogey.
Most important, I beat the guy I was playing against.
