In 1993 Scott Secules, New England Patriots, started the first 4 games at QB. Rookie Drew Bledsoe started the rest of the way.
I see Tomlin doing the same thing with Trubisky and Pickett.
You may not see Trubisky start again after week 5 or 6, especially if he shits the bed, which in some strange way, Tomlin may be hoping for.
That's probably been the plan from the get-go. I don't think Tomlin ever really gave Rudolph a fair shake in his so-called open QB competition the same way he was always going to go with Trubisky from the start. I don't think they ever felt that Pickett needed a full year and Trubisky was always going to be just a placeholder. His contract dictated that. You don't give a QB $8 million to be your unquestioned starter.
Oh, when they switch to Pickett they will put out all this stuff that they still feel confident in Trubisky but that Pickett gives them a better chance to win and that they have 2 starting QBs, but that is probably always going to be the plan that Pickett will eventually start at some point in the very near future, probably before the Bye week.
