House GOP is a train wreck

"Right now" shows a strong lack of political history and acumen. The two parties don't just divide philosophically, they divide thoughtfully. The dems are a single-minded lockstep party with very little disagreement. All sheep in one pen. If any sheep strays (Simema), they are instantly condemned and forced to submit or leave. Repubs have always taken a more independent path.

The issue here is strength. The base and a small portion of the repub electorate want to emulate the ruthless dem fight approach. McCarthy has been uncommitted (witness dem support) to this strategy. So far, McCarthy has only committed to throwing some dems off of committees a a few meaningless procedure changes. If he were to commit to a stronger approach, he would pull the final votes he needs (and lose dem enthusiasm).

As long as repubs are independent minded, the sheep hope won't be possible.
