In game one, the Red Sox were losing to the Orioles by as much as 8-2 before rallying back in the 8th and 9th innings only to lose 10-9. The Boston Globe happily wrote, "The Red Sox start off the season in the same position as they ended 2022, in last place". We'll see how much criticism the Boston Globe heaps on the lowly 2023 Red Sox. The Red Sox own the Boston Globe!
Game 2 looked to be another blow-out. Chris Sale gave up 7 runs in three innings including a couple of home runs. The Red Sox battled back and trailed 8-7 heading into the bottom of the 9th. The ball was flying out of Fenway all day as the result of strong winds from a storm that had just broken up and was headed out to sea.
Down to their last out, Masataka Yoshida lifted a lazy fly ball to left field. Orioles Ryan McKenna camped out under the ball and DROPPED IT.
Felix Bautista was throwing 100 mph darts! Duvall turned on a 1-0 the pitch that left his bat at 106.7 m.p.h. on a line. The ball parked itself on top of the Green Monster ledge before bouncing back onto the field.
2 Run Walk Off HR. Red Sox win!
I'm curious to learn how long I will pay attention to the Red Sox in 2023.
These new rules are dumb. Pitch com is dumb too. Both rays games ive watched started out with a delay cause pitch com wasn't working. Then the umps call these clock violations and nobody knows if it's on the pitcher or batter.

For the Padres, expectations could not be any higher after that run to the NLCS last October and adding Boegarts and Wacha during the off-season. Typically this type of strategy does not end well, but San Diego is so overdue that maybe baseball karma will work in their favor. My pick is for them to win the NL West, then we’ll see how it goes from there.
For the O’s, they finally posted a winning record last year after 7 years of being absolutely awful. They have a ton of young talent coming through the pipelines and have used Mike Elias (the guy who built the Astros roster) to step up and lead the total rebuild. My concern is pitching as it has looked awful over the first series. My pick is that they might be a dark horse for the AL East but are not quite there yet. Right around .500

so they have made it more boring to watch?
I mean the pitches are coming faster, there is more base running, more athletic infield play, and more people on base.
