It’s a record that will probably never be broken. Baseball is filled with hot starts, teams get out of the gate quick almost every year, and every few years a team comes along that wins 12 of 15 or has a record of 22-6 or something like that. But no one had ever seen what the Detroit Tigers did in 1984. That year the team won their first nine games, lost a game, then won seven in a row. A week later the Tigers started another seven-game winning streak, dropped a game, and promptly peeled off nine in a row. Their record stood at 35-5 on May 24, the best 40-game start in baseball history.
He's 30 years old. Giving him a 10 year contract makes it more likely that he won't honor his entire contract, and his abilities we become diminished.
The Red Sox have gone bargain basement in the last few years. I guess owner John Henry feels that he won 4 World Series for the Red Sox, time to milk the asset and spread some money around to his other franchises; Pittsburgh Penguins, Liverpool Football Club, RFK Racing,
That run in the WBC, and the feeling of playing in games that really matter, has to come into play to an extent too. Right now the Padres are in a significantly better position to be a contender for quite a few years.
These shorter games make it nearly impossible to justify the money it costs to watch a game live. Especially if it’s in a park you haven’t experienced before. One lap to see what the park has going on and you miss 1/3 of the game.
Seems to be a lot of positive feedback from tv viewers. I still hate the majority of the changes.

Its a fun team to be a fan of thats for sure. I think its probably even more appealing for players from the DR. Like a DR all star team already. Petco rages for all games. So players love that. Help that the Chargers are no longer there.

Of course. I remember living near downtown 10-15 years ago and going to games all the time, it was even to the point where you got two tickets just for checking out 10 books at the library, lol. Now even the nosebleed seats are an issue. Parking is like $80. It’s a really fun scene down there though, well worth it.

Sweet. I thought about a Little Italy area condo instead of Kauai for a little while. Would get Padre season tickets etc. That would be a fun retirement.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some old psr memories to suppress
