When I was a kid I would grab the daily newspapers and read the the list of top ten hitters. Baseball was everything and there so was little information to be consumed. I couldn't wait for the monthly Baseball Digest to show up in the mail.
Any way, There are two Red Sox players in the top 50 of batting: Alex Verdugo (12) 0.315 Avg and Matsaka Yoshida (25) 0.303 Avg
At age 11 I sent a letter to every major league team to nicely ask for swag. The package I received from the Dodgers made me a Dodger fan for life. (But I still will root for SD every time)
When I was a kid I had lots of baseball cards and I would lay them out on the floor in the positions they played. I had lots of Yankees. There was not major league Padres at the time. I had all the greats of the Yankees. No one suggested to me I keep them in good condition. I took clothes pins and clipped them to the spokes of my bicycle.
I LOVED playing organized baseball and played thru Pony league. Once in high school I played for fun with friends but devoted all my time to wrestling.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some old psr memories to suppress
Big Padre/Dodger series starts tonight. Kershaw vs Mustgrove. The Dodgers are probably pissed we knocked them out of the playoffs last year when they had a 111 game win season. My cousin about drove down here from L.A. to toilet paper my house or something. Boy was pissed at the playoff system.

They went with Darvish, I think Musgrove was a late scratch because of something minor like a blister. Interesting strategy to bring Martinez in as a middle relief guy but it worked. That’s probably his natural position but he’s been used as a starter for a while, both by the Padres and during the WBC.

Well it was fun while it lasted. The Pirates have now lost like 7 games in a row. They are still somehow in 1st place in the NL Central though and tied for 2nd in the NL.

"First Thoughts are the everyday thoughts. Everyone has those. Second Thoughts are the thoughts you think about the way you think. People who enjoy thinking have those. Third Thoughts are thoughts that watch the world and think all by themselves. They’re rare, and often troublesome."

Shitty owners = shitty team.
Best Pittsburgh can do is boycott until a new owner is found
He has to practice taking pitches in BP. Cares more about not swinging than he does swinging the bat. He is not even worth 20M a year at this rate. Id rather just let him go and lose those prospects then go after Ohtani. Nobody is going to make him the highest paid player if this is all hes got.

Not only that….his fielding and base running have been awful as well.

Yankees are going to break all salary records for Ohtani.

All he has is that strange act at the plate when he takes pitches. Thats weird stink bug thing and over exaggerated "pitch take" drama. Huge smile....nods his head at the pitcher. He goes up to the plate looking to walk. Thats what seems to bring him the most joy. Drives me nuts. I think its causing him to develop negative swing habits.

I know we talked about this already. We did outbid them for Judge. I get it NY he would be a God...but if its money...we might outbid everyone. And im serious.
Here comes the hold fail. We could really use a high lev monster. Id take another closer off a team.
Hader is great.
I mean as a bridge to him. High leverage guy. I would not be shocked if Pomeranz plays that role. Usually the 7th and 8th inning. Often times teams trade for closers to use in the 8th. Before a guy like Hader.
