A trans Mexican immigrant Estrella Santos-Zacaria, who was fleeing the country and seeking asylum because of the persecution she faced due to her gender and sexual orientation had her preferred pronouns recognized by the Supreme Court by a ruling written by justice Ketanji Brown Jackson and joined by the other Liberal justices. Justice Alito wrote a concurring opinion which did not misgender Ms Zacaria or use her "dead" name and was joined by Justice Clarence Thomas. John Roberts, Amy Comey Bennett, and Brett Kavanaugh all used her preferred name and pronouns throughout the opinion.
They ruled in favor of the asylum seeker based on a procedural question.
"Too often, we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought." - JFK
"First Thoughts are the everyday thoughts. Everyone has those. Second Thoughts are the thoughts you think about the way you think. People who enjoy thinking have those. Third Thoughts are thoughts that watch the world and think all by themselves. They’re rare, and often troublesome."
