Instant Pot Spicy Beef Tamales Recipe

2 cups masa harina 1 cup beef broth 1 cup shredded beef (pre-cooked) 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste) Corn husks, soaked in warm water


In a mixing bowl, combine masa harina, baking powder, salt, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper.


In a separate saucepan, heat beef broth and vegetable shortening until the shortening melts. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.

Assembling the Tamales

Spread a thin layer of masa dough onto a soaked corn husk.


Add a spoonful of the spicy shredded beef filling to the center of the masa.


Roll the tamale and fold the ends, securing them with kitchen twine.
